Cartoon showing what happens to a drop of gasoline from the time it flows into the gas tank to when it is exploded in the engine cylinder. This "fantastic voyage" through a glisteningly clean Chevrolet engine is an excellent example of the soft-sell industrial, where the product that's promoted is hardly ever mentioned by name.

“A Community Problem” is a rarely seen 1950s-era film by Caterpillar Inc. covering the sanitation industry. In an era before Americans produced anywhere near as much trash as today and when the word recycling was not widely used, this film seems slightly innocent, but it presents the problems of waste management with a great deal of clarity and even shows recycling in action. We watch as African American garbagemen empty trash cans into the back of a garbage truck and taken to a dump...

From Staten Island -- home of the world's largest landfill -- comes an in depth examination that explores the roots of an ever-increasing problem and looks at solutions beyond recycling. It raises such crucial questions as: Why is there so much of it? Who makes it and where does it go? What are people doing about it in their communities? Coordinating Producer: Caryn Rogoff, in collaboration with Staten Island Community TV (Staten Island, NY )

Timelapse of a house being knocked down. I've uploaded footage at varying levels of time compression and different codecs. For the best quality, avoid the IA derivatives and check out... Windows Media 1280x720 at x64 speed. QuickTime/MPEG-4 1280x720 at x64 speed. ...which should give you a good indication if the footage is of interest. From that find the best speed ( QT@x16 , WMV@x04 , WMV@x16 ) for your needs. The raw MPEG-2 footage is also available... Part 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 ....

Here's something that managed to breeze right past me the first time around--an off-air recording of the original Friday the 13th film aired sometime in the days leading up to the release of Friday the 13th Part VII (oddly enough, released on Friday, May 13, 1988). For whatever reason, the signal was exceedingly poor on this recording (NOTE: this is NOT DX footage). So poor, in fact, that the signal was too weak for my industrial Betamax deck to recognize the recording the first time I went...
